Liberty Apted

Liberty Apted’s work explores combining a variety of influences that have their roots in traditional art and storytelling methods such as theatre sets and magic lanterns to explore escapism and present the argument that it can still be of use in a modern setting. Her practice experiments with repurposing commonplace materials and presenting them in unexpected settings, such as using foodstuffs and decorating materials as pigments and improvised canvases to create abstract mixed media paintings. Within this experimentation she also attempts to analyse her own relationship with art as a means of escapism on a personal level.
