Athina is a multimedia artist expanding both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional. Her work depicts gestural expressions of hands, as human hands by themselves express their own language, but also, as the artist Lorenzo Quinn states, ‘they hold so much power – the power to love, to hate, to create, to destroy.’ Her work often depicts the intertwined relationship of man and nature. In some sculptures humanity up towards animals is shown and in others the human unimportance in comparison to the whole. In her final
year, she focused mainly with the media of clay, rod and wooden structures depicting various shapes of hands aiming to cause a strong feeling and characteristic of humanness. She has been working with wooden & rod sculptures as tall as 2m and as wide as 3m.
